MATERIALS AND CARE

Each piece of Nocturne jewellery is hand-crafted and requires delicate handling.
Many factors can influence the condition of your jewellery. Therefore you should make sure that it is properly cleaned, repaired and stored. Take care to avoid extreme humidity or heat as this may cause tarnishing. This will keep them looking their best.

To protect it and contribute to its longevity, please follow a few tips:

Store your jewellery separately and in its dust bag as metals and stones can scratch when they come into contact with each other. Do not let your jewellery come into contact with household detergents or other chemical products and take care when spraying perfume.
After each wear — gently wipe with a soft jewellery cloth and store in a jewellery box. Please note that the majority of our pieces requires wirework and hand-stitching, which should be delicately handled and stored in an appropriate setting.

WEARING

Always protect your jewellery from knocks, scratches, water, chemicals, sunlight and heat/cold to minimise these effects.
We recommend removing jewellery when you shower or bathe and particularly when on the beach, in the sea and in chlorinated water.
Avoid spraying perfume or applying creams directly onto your jewellery. Keep away from extreme temperatures, humidity and sunlight, and avoid wearing your jewellery when using bleach.

STORING

All Nocturne jewellery comes with a dust Bag or Box. These are great ways to store your jewellery when they are not being worn.
To protect your jewellery, pieces should be individually placed in their dust bag or within a soft lined box to stop them being scratched or tangled. Ideally store your jewellery in a dark, cool and dry place, and try to keep pieces apart, so that they don't rub together or tangle up.

CLEANING

Metals
Using a soft, lint free cloth is an effective way to keep your jewellery looking shiny and lustrous. Ideally, store metal pieces in an airtight bag to help reduce tarnishing. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean metal as they can cause scratching.

Gemstones

Since many gemstones are quite delicate, hot water, harsh chemicals and cleaners should be avoided at all times. We advise cleaning your stones with a clean, soft, damp cloth after wearing. Very porous stones such as turquoise and emeralds should be cleaned using an untreated, dry, soft cloth only. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean gemstones as they can cause scratching.
